A Pair of African American Scholars Appointed to Dean Posts

GregWashingtonGregory Washington was appointed to a second five-year term as the Stacey Nicholas Dean of Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. During his first term, undergraduate enrollments increased by 19 percent and graduate enrollment were up 21 percent.

Dr. Washington holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, all from North Carolina State University in Raleigh.

Cheryl cherylharrisonHarrison was appointed dean of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York. She has been serving as executive director of the school.

Dr. Harrison is a graduate of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She holds a master’s degree from Boston University and a Ph.D. from Harvard University.
