New Provosts for Two Historically Black Universities

Dr. Patricia Pierce Ramsey - Lincoln UniversityPatricia Pierce Ramsey was named provost at The Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, effective July 1. Dr. Ramsey has been serving as a professor and chair of the department of natural sciences at Bowie State University in Maryland.

Dr. Ramsey has served as provost and vice president for academic affairs and interim president during her 11-year career at Bowie State University. Earlier, she was vice president for academic affairs at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Professor Ramsey is a graduate of Norfolk State University in Virginia, where she majored in biology education. She holds a master’s degree in botany from Howard University in Washington, D.C., and a master’s degree in biology from Harvard University. Dr. Ramsey earned a Ph.D. in biology from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

PeterONwosu[1]Peter O. Nwosu was appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at Clark Atlanta University in Georgia, effective July 15. He has been serving as associate vice president for academic programs at California State University, Fullerton. Dr. Nwosu is also a professor of human communications at the university

From 2011 to 2013 Dr. Nwosu was associate vice president for academic affairs at Tennessee State University in Nashville. Earlier, he was special assistant to the provost for academic planning and diversity initiatives at California State University, Northridge.

Professor Nwosu is a graduate of the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu, Nigeria. He holds a master’s degree from Towson University in Maryland and a Ph.D. in communications studies from Howard University in Washington, D.C.
