University of Maryland Eastern Shore to Offer a New Master’s Degree Program in Cybersecurity

umes_logo1The University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne has announced that it will now offer a new master’s degree program in cybersecurity. The degree program will be offered online and can be completed in as little as 18 months.

To be accepted into the program students need a bachelor’s degree in a related technology field or have experience in cybersecurity in the workforce. Students who want to begin classes in the fall will be required to submit GRE or GMAT test scores.

dunnDerrek B. Dunn, a full professor and chair of the department of technology in the School of Business and Technology at University of Maryland Eastern Shore, stated that the “program is designed to specifically prepare graduates with the skills and knowledge to manage cybersecurity response teams as well as to protect information technology and cybersecurity infrastructure. The university is excited to provide this vital training in a field that touches many lives.”

Dr. Dunn is graduate of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, where he double majored in mathematics and electrical engineering. He holds two master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech.
