Four African American Women Named to New Administrative Posts at Major Universities

sheree-marloweSheree M. Marlowe was named chief officer of diversity and inclusion at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. Since 2013, Marlowe has been the campus diversity officer at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Earlier, she was a diversity officer at the University of California, San Francisco.

Marlowe is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in English. She holds a juris doctorate from the Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco.

Linda McCabe SmithLinda McCabe Smith was appointed vice provost for institutional equity and diversity at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. She has been serving as associate chancellor for institutional equity and diversity at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.

Dr. McCabe Smith holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from North Carolina Central University in Durham. She earned a Ph.D. in speech-language and hearing pathology at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.

laguerre_brownCaroline Laguerre-Brown was named vice provost for diversity, equity, and community engagement at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Since 2010, she has served as vice provost for institutional equity and chief diversity officer at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Laguerre-Brown is a graduate of Binghamton University in New York and the University of Virginia School of Law.

Dr. Monica LeachMonica Terrell Leach was promoted to senior associate vice chancellor for enrollment management and academic affairs at North Carolina Central University in Durham. For the past two years, she has been the associate vice chancellor in the division. Dr. Leach is the former assistant dean for academic affairs at North Carolina State University in Raleigh.

Dr. Leach is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in education from North Carolina State University.

  1. I am personally very happy about these new appointments, it shows shows something good is expected to come out of Israel. I say a very Big Congratulations to those concerned. But remember to be good ambassadors of all African American Women. Thank you.

  2. It is quite rewarding and encouraging for Humans to be recognized and appreciated (not only the female gender) for their good works and personal contributions especially in their respective areas of primary assignments.
