Roderick McDavis to Leave Presidency of Ohio University in 2017

Roderick-McDavis-thumbRoderick J. McDavis, president of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, has announced that he will step down at the end of the 2016-17 academic year. Dr. McDavis has been president of Ohio University since 2004.

In a statement to the university community, Dr. McDavis said that “serving as the 20th president of my beloved alma mater has been the high point of my career.”

Dr. McDavis is a graduate of Ohio University and holds a master’s degree from the University of Dayton and a doctorate in counselor education and higher education administration from the University of Toledo. Before becoming president of Ohio University, Dr. McDavis held administrative positions at the University of Florida, the University of Arkansas, and the University of Toledo.

  1. During his time at the University of Florida, this phenomenal educator and great human being mentored and inspired many graduate students to “stay the course”. Many of us are academic progenies of “Dean McDavis”.
