The New Dean of the College of Engineering at Howard University

Dr. Achille MessacAchille Messac was appointed dean of the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Computer Science at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Messac has been serving as dean of engineering and professor of aerospace engineering at Mississippi State University in Starkville.

Before joining the faculty at Mississippi State in 2013, Dr. Messac was a Distinguished Professor and chair of the department of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Syracuse University in New York. Earlier, he served on the faculty of the department of mechanical, aerospace and nuclear engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.

Professor Messac holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, all from the department of aeronautical and astronautical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
