Four New Black Assistant Professors at Cornell University

cornellCornell University in Ithaca, New York, has published a list of its new faculty members. Four of the new appointees to assistant professor posts are African Americans.

Aymer460Valerie Aymar is a new assistant professor of landscape architecture. She was technical director of landscape architecture at AECOM Inc. in New York City. Alymar is a graduate of Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, where she majored in biology. She holds a master of landscape architecture degree from Cornell University.

NF Creary460Stephanie J. Creary was named assistant professor of strategy in the School of Hotel Administration. She was an adjunct professor of organizational behavior at the Simmons School of Management in Boston. Dr. Creary holds a bachelor’s degree in communication disorders and a master’s degree in speech language pathology from Boston University. She holds an MBA from the Simmons School of Management and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in management/organizational studies from Boston College.

NF Rogers460Sean E. Rogers was appointed assistant professor of employment relations, human resources, and law in the School of Hotel Administration. He was an assistant professor of management at New Mexico State University. Dr. Rogers holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA in aviation business administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. He earned a master’s degree in human resource development at the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. in industrial relations and human resources from Rutgers University in New Jersey.

NF shepard460Samantha N. Sheppard is a new assistant professor of cinema and media studies in the College of Arts and Sciences. She was a postdoctoral associate in the department of performing and media arts at Cornell University. Dr. Sheppard is a graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in cinema and media studies from the University of California, Los Angeles.
