Four African Americans in New Administrative Posts in Higher Education

scottMonica C. Scott was named director of admission and chair of the enrollment management committee at Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee. She has been serving as interim director of admission since 2014.

Dr. Scott is a summa cum laude graduate of Lane College. She holds an MBA from Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee.

O'NealR. Kenneth O’Neal II has just been selected as the clinical nursing coordinator for Pueblo Community College in Pueblo, Colorado. He retired from the U.S. Army in 2008 with 7 combat tours in 23 years of service as a combat medic and later a trauma nurse.

O’Neal also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Colorado Christian University in Colorado Springs. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in health care administration from Walden University.

mncube-barnesFatima M. Mncube-Barnes is the new executive director of the Louis Stokes Health Sciences Library at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She was associate vice president of instructional technologies and an assistant professor in graduate and research studies at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dr. Mncube-Barnes is a graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She holds master’s degrees from Harvard University, the University of Tennessee, and the University of Illinois. Dr. Mncube-Barnes earned an educational doctorate from Tennessee State University.

jeremy_orr_for_webJeremy Orr was named environmental justice coordinator at the Translational Environmental Law Clinic at the Wayne State University Law School in Detroit. He will also serve as coordinator for the Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition. Orr was executive director of the Mid-Michigan Environmental Law Council.

Orr earned a bachelor’s degree in public health and a master’s degree in criminal justice at Michigan State University. He is expected to receive his juris doctorate later this year from the College of Law at Michigan State University.
