New Administrative Jobs for Four Black Americans in Higher Education

AnanouSimeon Ananou was appointed vice president for information and technology services and chief information officer at the University at Albany of the State University of New York System. He has been serving as chief information officer at Salisbury University in Maryland. Dr. Ananou will begin his new job at the University at Albany on February 1.

Dr. Ananou is a graduate of Ohio State University, where he majored in international relations. He holds an MBA from Barker College in Flint, Michigan, and an educational doctorate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

parhamTyrone A. Parham was named assistant vice chancellor and chief of police at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He was chief of police and director of public safety at Pennsylvania State University. He has been a university police officer at Penn State since 1993.

Parham holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in workforce education and development from Penn State.

Microsoft Word - Nicole Announcement.docxNicole Whitehead was named director of human resources and community engagement at Sweet Briar College in Virginia, effective January 1. She has been serving as a human resources and organizational development officer  at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, North Carolina.

Whitehead holds a bachelor’s degree in business and an MBA from Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. She is completing work on an educational doctorate at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.

JasonHamilton-croppedJason D. Hamilton was named vice president for enrollment and marketing at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. He will begin his new job in February. He has been serving since 2008 as the director of the nonprofit Arkansas Commitment Program. This organization identifies and prepares high-achieving African American high school students for college. He is the former director of admissions at Sewanee: The University of the South in Tennessee.

Hamilton is a graduate of Sewanee: The University of the South and holds an executive MBA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Quenon Endowed Chair, and vice provost for graduate education at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
