Mississippi Valley State University Adds Two Academic Programs

MVSU-logoMississippi Valley State University has announced the addition of two new academic programs and the consolidation of two other programs into one major. The new academic programs are pre-law/legal studies and general studies. The concentrations of political science and public administration have been consolidated into one program known as government and politics.

Kathie Golden, associate vice president of academic affairs at the university, stated that “the pre-law/legal studies program can be attractive to high school students, who are interested in becoming attorneys. The general studies program provides an alternative for students who are not quite sure about their career aspirations, as well as for students who have a significant number of credit hours but are unable to graduate due to, or in some cases, changes in their initial academic program’s requirements, or their financial situations. The general studies program also provides an excellent opportunity for students, who left the University and desire to obtain a degree but are short on both available time and financial resources.”

The university hopes that the general studies program will increase enrollments and also boost the university’s graduation rate.
