Great Success for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Physical Therapy Program

umes-thumbAccording to the Federation of State Board of Physical Therapy, in 2014 only 16 percent of the 213 accredited physical therapy programs in the United States had 100 percent of their doctoral graduates pass the standardized licensure examination in the field.

At the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, all graduates of its doctoral program in physical therapy have passed the licensure examination in each of the past two years. Since 2010, all graduates of the university’s physical therapy program have passed the licensure examination, although some took more than one try.

Patrick R. Liverpool, provost at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, said that licensure passage rate “is a reflection of the high caliber of the leadership and faculty of the program. It certainly reinforces the fact that UMES’ doctor of physical therapy program in one of the best in the nation.”
