Traki Taylor Named Dean of the College of Education at Florida A&M University

TTaylorTraki L. Taylor was named dean of the College of Education at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. Dr. Taylor will being her new job in January.

Dr. Taylor has been serving as dean and professor in the College of Education at Bowie State University in Maryland. Earlier in her career, she was associate dean in the School of Education and Human Services at the University of Michigan-Flint.

In a statement, Dr. Taylor said, “I am honored to be selected as the next dean of the FAMU College of Education. The College of Education is among the top producers of African-American educators in Florida and is considered the cornerstone college of the University. I look forward to building upon and strengthening that rich legacy.”

Professor Taylor is a graduate of Coppin State University in Baltimore, where she majored in special education. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.

Excellent teachers, researchers and leaders are desperately needed at all levels, P-16. I look forward to watching you and FAMU excel.
