New Administrative Roles in Higher Education for Five African Americans

ColeAmy Cole is the new director of transfer and veteran student academic services at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. She was an analyst for the Maryland Higher Education Commission in Baltimore.

Cole is a graduate of the University of Maryland-College Park and holds a master’s degree in history from Morgan State University in Baltimore.

tresmaine-grimesTresmaine Grimes was appointed vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty at Bloomfield College in New Jersey. She was assistant vice president for academic affairs at Iona College in New Rochelle, New York.

Dr. Grimes is a graduate of Yale University, where she majored in psychology and Afro American studies. She holds a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Columbia University.

hayes_conwayCharlene Moore Hayes was named the inaugural senior executive for human capital strategy at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. In this role she will serve as a senior adviser to the university’s president. For the past 12 years, Hayes has served as vice president for human resources at the university.

Hayes is a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where she majored in Africana studies. She earned a law degree at George Washington University.

MadyunNashid Madyum was appointed director of the Black Archives and Research Center at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. For the past four years, he was director of the Hampton University Museum in Virginia.

Dr. Madyum holds a master’s degree in history from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, and a doctorate in management from the University of Phoenix.

chandlerMaurice Anthony Chandler was appointed academic dean at All Saints Bible College in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Chandler is the author of the book Set Apart for Christ, which will be published this fall.

Dr. Chandler is a graduate of LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis. He holds a master’s degree in religion, a master of divinity degree, and a doctorate in ministry from the Memphis Theological Seminary.
