New Administrative Positions in Higher Education for Five African Americans

Stevie L. Lawrence IIStevie L. Lawrence II was appointed executive director for retention services at Fort Valley State University in Georgia. He had been serving as director for college success in the Office of General Administration of the University of North Carolina System.

Dr. Lawrence is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, where he majored in history. He holds a master of public administration degree from North Carolina Central University in Durham and a Ph.D. in urban higher education from Jackson State University in Mississippi.

gilmerFrancene Gilmer was named acting vice president of student affairs at Kentucky State University in Frankfort. She has been serving as director of the Center for Academic and Professional Excellence. From 2008 to 2014, Gilmer was director of the Career Center at the University of Kentucky.

Gilmer is a graduate of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. She holds a master’s degree in college student personnel services from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

Joslyn DiPasalegne was named major gifts officer in the Division of Institutional Advancement at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She held a similar position at South Carolina State University.

DiPasalegne holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from the National College of Education in Chicago.

paulette_dilworthPaulette Patterson Dilworth was named vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. She has been serving as assistant vice president for access and communication initiatives at Auburn University in Alabama.

Dr. Dilworth is a graduate of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in educational studies from Emory University in Atlanta.

Dr.-Cindy-LoveCindy R. Love is the new director of career counseling and professional development at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is the former director of the student professional development program in the School of Business at North Carolina Central University in Durham.

Dr. Love holds a master of public administration degree from North Carolina Central University and a doctorate in leadership studies from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro.

    An Edgecombe County native Dr. Stevie L. Lawrence II featured doing some great things in the education field. Many times we see young men being recognized for making it in sports but Dr. Lawrence have and will touch many lives that can change the lives of young folk.
