Hampton University Faculty Member Wins Miss Virginia Crown

WilliamsIt is not unusual when a woman college student wins a beauty pageant. In many of these pageants winners receive scholarship awards so it is only natural that college women are the ones entering these contests.

But it is somewhat unusual when a university faculty member wins a beauty pageant. Desiree Williams, an assistant professor of physical therapy at Hampton University, was recently crowned Miss Virginia at a pageant in Charlottesville. As Miss Virginia, Dr. Williams will compete in the 2016 Miss USA pageant.

Dr. Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education and a doctor of physical therapy degree from Hampton University. She joined the Hampton University faculty earlier this year and also works as a clinical physical therapist.
