Elise Durham was named assistant vice president of communications, media relations, and marketing at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. For the past 14 years, she has served on the media relations staff at Morehouse College in Atlanta.

Genese Lavalais was promoted to senior woman administration and associate athletics director at Jackson State University in Mississippi. Since October 2014, she has served as the assistant athletics director for academics. Earlier, she was director of academic enhancement at Grambling State University in Louisiana.
Lavalais is a graduate of Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. She holds a master’s degree in sports administration from Grambling State University.
Marcus Burgess is the new vice president for university advancement at Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens. He was vice president for institutional advancement at Voorhees College in Denmark, South Carolina.
Burgess is a graduate of Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina, where he served as student body president. He holds a master’s degree in elementary administration and supervision from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.
