Albany State University Fires Four Employees of it Financial Aid Office

ASU_logoThe University System of Georgia recently completed an audit of the financial aid office at historically Black Albany State University that found several irregularities. According to a report in the Albany Herald, one employee of the university had received $270,000 in financial aid funds going back to 1985. Four employees of the financial aid office were terminated as a result of the audit.

arthur-dunning-thumbInterim president of Albany State University, Art Dunning, stated that “the investigation revealed serious misconduct on the part of several of our employees. We have taken appropriate disciplinary action with the involved employees. I want to make very clear that this type of misconduct has no place at Albany State University. We are moving forward to ensure that the financial aid office has the human and technical resources, policies and protocols in place to better serve the needs of our students. Going forward, we can assure you that proper oversight, integrity of the process and quality customer service will be the priorities of the financial aid office.”

My son is a student athlete at Albany State University and came up for verification through verification the financial aid office strongly suggested that his father change the status for the way that he filed his taxes because he and I were seperated but not divorced, after much debate the financial aid office sent a letter and stated that the only way his aid would be disbursed if the taxes were amended. His father amended his 2015 taxes however Ms.Lawrence and her team have went in and removed all of his financial aid from spring 2014, fall 2015, spring 2016 leaving a balance of 11,000 which means he can’t register for classes HE IS AT LOST WE NEED HELP!!!!
