Christopher Howard Named President of Robert Morris University

ChrisHowardChristopher B. Howard was appointed president of Robert Morris University in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. The private university near Pittsburgh enrolls about 4,500 undergraduate students and nearly 1,000 graduate students. Blacks make up 6 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Gary Claus, chair of the board of trustees of Robert Morris University, said that “Dr. Howard is a high-energy, charismatic and visionary leader who believes in the power of mentorship – a perfect fit for Robert Morris University.”

Since 2009, Christopher B. Howard has been serving as president of Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, one of the few all-male colleges in the United States. Before becoming president of Hampden-Sydney College in 2009, Dr. Howard was vice president for leadership and strategic initiatives at the University of Oklahoma.

A former helicopter pilot, Dr. Howard is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He holds an MBA from Harvard University and a doctorate from Oxford University in England as a Rhodes Scholar.
