Alcorn State University Partners With a Local Casino

alcornseal1Alcorn State University, a historically Black educational institution in Mississippi, has entered into an agreement with the Magnolia Bluffs Casino in Natchez, Mississippi. Under the agreement, each year the casino will provide $25,000 in financial support to the university’s athletics programs. In return, the casino will receive a sponsor recognition and marketing and promotional opportunities at Alcorn State sporting events.

The agreement calls for Alcorn State to offer courses in gaming and hospitality management. And the casino will provide internships for students in these academic programs.

Kevin Preston, president of Premier Gaming, the company that operates the casino, said that “our team at Magnolia Bluffs Casino is proud to be a sponsor of Alcorn State University from both an athletic aspect and more importantly, academically. We truly need an avenue for graduates once they graduate. Gaming is such an important aspect of the Mississippi landscape as well as in Natchez. It would be a great opportunity for job creation.”
