Two Black Leaders Are Leaving Their University Posts

College of Earth & Mineral SciencesYaw D. Yeboah, dean of the Florida A&M University/Florida State University College of Engineering, announced that he will step down on July 31. He was named the fifth dean of the College of Engineering in 2012.

Dr. Yeboah is the former chair of the department of energy and mineral engineering at Pennsylvania State University and the former associate dean for science and technology at Clark Atlanta University. Before beginning his academic career, Dr. Yeboah worked at the General Electric Research and Development Center in Schenectady, New York. He holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

jones_newsDavid A. Jones, vice president for human resources at Stanford University in California, announced that he will step down on July 10. Jones has accepted a position as senior vice president with Kaiser Permanente health care in Oakland.

Jones joined the staff at Stanford University in 2007 and has held his current position since 2011. Earlier he was associate vice president for employee and management services. Jones is a graduate of Morehouse College and holds law degrees from Howard University and Georgetown University.
