Very Few Peace Corps Volunteers Are Graduates of HBCUs

media-Peace_Corps_LogoIn March, a JBHE post reported that Howard University in Washington, D.C., was the only historically Black college or university that made the list of the top 25 producers of Peace Corps volunteers in the three categories of large universities, medium-size colleges and universities and small colleges and universities. This year there are 13 graduates from Howard University working in the Peace Corps.

Now the Peace Corps has issued data ranking HBCUs on the number of their graduates who serve in their ranks. After Howard University, Spelman College in Atlanta ranked second with eight graduates working in the Peace Corps. Morehouse College and Norfolk State University tied for third place with four graduates currently volunteering in the Peace Corps.
