In Memoriam: Jesse Thomas Moore Jr., 1933-2015

fea-jesse-mooreJesse T. Moore Jr., a professor emeritus of history at the University of Rochester in New York, died on April 18. He was 81 years old and had suffered from cancer.

Dr. Moore joined the department of history at the university in 1970. He later served as associate dean and founded the university’s Robert E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program. He served as Grand Marshall at many of the university’s ceremonial events. Dr. Moore retired from teaching in 2000.

Professor Moore was the author of A Search for Equality: The National Urban League, 1910-1961 (Pennsylvania State University Press, 1981). He was a graduate of what is now North Carolina Central University and held a Ph.D. from Penn State.

In Memoriam: O. Jerome Green, 1954-2024

President of historically Black Shorter College O. Jerome Green passed way unexpectedly on April 8. Since he became president in 2012, the college has experienced record-breaking enrollment and graduation rates, created new academic programs, and established the STEM Center for Academic Excellence.
