Five New Administrative Appointees at Virginia State University

Paula vsu-logoHammond, interim president of historically Black Virginia State University, has announced the appointment of five individuals to what she called “mission critical” positions.

davenportKevin Davenport was appointed vice president for administration and finance. He was treasurer and director of foundation services at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Earlier in his career, he was associate vice president for facilities and services at Virginia State. A certified public account, Davenport holds a bachelor’s degree from Hampton University and an MBA from the College of William and Mary.

gambrellLetizia Gambrell-Boone was appointed vice president for student affairs at Virginia State . She has served as senior director in academic and student affairs, special assistant to the president, and deputy dean at Hampton University in Virginia. Dr. Gambrell-Boone holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in counseling and student development from Hampton University. She earned a doctorate in higher education administration from George Washington University.

RamonataylorRamona L. Taylor was appointed general counsel at the university. She was an assistant attorney general in the education division for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Earlier she was an assistant city attorney for the city of Richmond. Taylor is a graduate of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where she majored in political science. She earned a law degree at the University of Richmond.

munden-orrPamela L. Munden-Orr was named director of alumni relations. She was an admissions counselor, alumni recruitment specialist, and president of the Tidewater Alumni Chapter. Munden-Orr holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Virginia State University.

perryEddie L. Perry Jr. was named chief of police on the Virginia State campus. He has been acting chief since April 2014. Earlier in his career, he served as chief of police at Mary Washington University and Thomas Nelson Community College. Perry holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Virginia Union University in Richmond.
