Three Black Men Named Finalists for Vice Provost for Diversity at the University of Wisconsin

University-of-Wisconsin-Madison-logoThe University of Wisconsin at Madison has selected a slate of three finalists for the position of vice provost for diversity. All three candidates will participate in open forums in mid-April. All three finalists for the post are African American men.

williamlewisWilliam T. Lewis Sr. is the alumni fellow at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg. From 2010 to 2014, he was vice president in the Office for Diversity and Inclusion at Virginia Tech. Dr. Lewis holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master of social work degree from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and an educational doctorate in higher education administration from Indiana University in Bloomington.

Quincy_RonRonald L. Quincy is a professor of professional practice in the School of Social Work at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He is the founding director of the Center for Nonprofit Management and Governance in the School of Social Work at Rutgers. Professor Quincy holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in urban affairs, sociology, and political science from the University of Detroit. He earned a Ph.D. in social sciences at Michigan State University.

Sims_Patrick_hs14_5906Patrick J. Sims is a professor of theatre and interim vice provost and chief diversity officer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is the founding director of the Theatre for Cultural and Social Awareness at the University of Wisconsin. He joined the faculty at the university in 2003. Professor Sims is a graduate of Yale University, where he double majored in psychology and theatre studies. He holds a master of fine arts in theatre from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
