President of Chicago State University Announces He Is Stepping Down in 2016

Wayne-WatsonWayne Watson, president of Chicago State University, has announced that he is stepping down from his post in June 2016. Dr. Watson was named the 19th president of Chicago State in 2009. Previously, he was chancellor of the Community Colleges of Chicago from 1998 to 2009.

In a statement, Dr. Watson said “there are many reasons why now is the right time. The university has made significant progress in its academic, athletic, and administrative capacities and we’ve accomplished much of what we set out to achieve in terms of right-sizing the ship and putting the university in a position to succeed moving forward.”

Dr. Watson holds bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. degrees, all from Northwestern University.
