Five African Americans in New Administrative Posts in Higher Education

jewel_washingtonJewel Washington is the new assistant vice president of human resources at the University of Maryland, College Park. She was interim vice president of human resources at the University of New Mexico. She had been on the staff at the University of New Mexico since 2000.

Washington is a graduate of Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. She holds a master’s degree in human resources development from Webster University in Webster Groves, Missouri.

Aristide-CollinsAristide Collins Jr. is the new vice president for development and alumni relations at George Washington University in the nation’s capital. He has been serving in the post on an interim basis since last October. Previously, he served as vice president and secretary of the university.

Dr. Collins is a graduate of California State University, East Bay in Hayward. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from California State University, Long Beach and an educational doctorate from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.

Thompson_MikahMikah K. Thompson was named director of affirmative action and EEO and Title IX coordinator at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She has been serving as an attorney for the law firm Osman & Smay and as an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.

Thompson earned her law degree at Washington University in St. Louis.

malleryWTaniecea Arceneaux Mallery was named director of equity, diversity, and community engagement at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. She was a senior diversity research specialist at the Association of American Medical Colleges in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Mallery is a graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in applied and computational mathematics from Princeton University in New Jersey.

sidney-evans-Sidney H. Evans Jr. is the new vice president for finance and management at Morgan State University in Baltimore. For the last several years, he has served as CEO of a management consulting firms. From 2005 to 2009, Evans was senior vice president and chief financial officer at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Evans is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hills. He earned an MBA at the University of Pittsburgh.
