A New Dean at Jackson State University in Mississippi

BlaineJackson State University in Mississippi has announced the appointment of Robert Blaine as dean of undergraduate studies and cyber learning. Dr. Blaine has been serving as special assistant to the provost for cyber learning. He is also an associate professor of music at the university.

“I am excited,” Blaine told faculty members, in accepting the post. “There is such a wonderful, wonderful foundation here.”

Dr. Blaine has been on faculty at Jackson State University since 2004. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Indiana University, a master’s degree from the Catholic University of American in Washington, D.C. and a doctorate in musical arts from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester in New York.

In Memoriam: Faith Ringgold, 1930-2024

Ringgold was a mixed media artist, best known for her narrative quilts which centered around African American and women's representation. She was a professor emerita of art with the University of California, San Diego where she taught for 15 years.
