Six African Americans Appointed to Administrative Posts in Higher Education

debDebra Bright was appointed associate dean of student services at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. She was interim associate dean of student services at the college.

Dr. Bright is a graduate of Syracuse University in New York. She holds a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and an educational doctorate from The George Washington University.

WBJacksonWillie Bernard Jackson Jr. is the new director of athletics at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida. He is the seventh full-time athletics director at the college.

Jackson played college football at the University of Florida. He then spent eight seasons as a wide receiver in the National Football League.

rmartin_newsSidebarRosalynn Martin was named associate vice chancellor for human resources at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She has been serving as director of human resources at Jacksonville State University in Alabama.

Dr. Martin is a graduate of Alcorn State University in Mississippi. She holds an MBA from Jackson State University in Mississippi and an educational doctorate from the University of Memphis.

Shelley-Davis-HillShelley Davis was appointed interim director of intercollegiate athletics at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She joined the athletics department staff in 2011 and has served as senior associate athletic director and senior woman administrator.

Davis is a graduate of North Carolina Central University in Durham.

hamiltonDwight K. Hamilton was named chief diversity officer at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. He has been serving as associate vice president for affirmative action and Title IX officer at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. He will begin his new job on February 25.

Hamilton is a graduate of Michigan State University and the Wayne State University School of Law.

robinsonE. D’Wayne Robinson is the new interim director of athletics at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. He was serving as the assistant athletic director for compliance.

Robinson is a graduate of Tougaloo College in Mississippi. He holds a master’s degree in education from Alcorn State University in Mississippi.
