A New Degree Program in Biomedical Engineering at the University of the District of Columbia

udcThe University of the District of Columbia has announced that it will offer a new bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering. The new degree program at the historically Black university is meant to help satisfy the projected 72 percent increase in jobs in the field over the next several years.

thompsonThe new degree program, which is beginning this spring, is under the direction of Lara A. Thompson, an assistant professor in the department of mechanical engineering. Dr. Thompson holds a Ph.D. in heath sciences and technology from a joint program of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
