In Memoriam: Abbie Simmons Grayson, 1904-2014

AbbieSimmons-GraysonAbbie Simmons Grayson, the oldest graduate of Tuskegee University in Alabama, died earlier this month at the age of 110. Not only was she the oldest alumna of Tuskegee University, but at the time of her death she was the oldest person in the state of Alabama.

Abbie Simmons was born in Tuskegee in 1904 and graduated from what was then the Tuskegee Institute in 1922. At the time of her death, she had 28 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and 32 great-great-grandchildren.
