Howard University Enters Partnership With Monumental Sports & Entertainment

howard-university-logoHoward University in Washington, D.C. has entered into a partnership agreement with Monumental Sports & Entertainment Inc. The company owns the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League, the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association, and the Washington Mystics of the Women’s National Basketball Association.

Under the agreement, students, faculty, alumni, and staff will get group sales discounts to attend games of the three teams. There will in-arena promotions for Howard University and the company will provide internships for students in Howard University’s sports management program.

Wayne A.I. Frederick, president of Howard University, stated that “the partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment is a great opportunity to share our story and the value of a Howard degree. We are grateful to our Athletics Department, the Bison Express alumni association and Monumental Sports & Entertainment for making this possible.”

Dr. Hightower was a professor of marketing at his alma mater, historically Black Florida A&M University, where he taught for over two decades. He also served the university as the Centennial Eminent Scholar Chair and Professor of Marketing and Facility Management.
