Howard College of Dentistry Dean Leo Rouse Announces His Retirement

DeanRouseHSELeo E. Rouse, dean of the Howard University College of Dentistry has announced that he will step down on December 31, 2015. He has served as dean for the past decade. Dr. Rouse will continue as dean for the remainder of the current academic year and then take a one semester sabbatical before retiring next December.

Before becoming dean, Dr. Rouse served as associate dean for clinical affairs. He also was chair of the department of clinical dentistry. Earlier, he served in the U.S. Army for nearly a quarter century. He was the commander of the U.S. Army Dental Command.

Dr. Rouse Also was the first African American to serve as president of the American Dental Education Association. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a doctor of dental science degree from Howard University.
