President of The Lincoln University Comes Under Fire

jenningsIn late 2011, the board of trustees of The Lincoln University in Pennsylvania chose Robert R. Jennings as the historically Black university’s 13th president. He replaced Ivory V. Nelson who had led Lincoln since 1999.

Earlier this year, Dr. Jennings was the target of a no confidence vote from the university’s alumni association. Now, it has been reported that the faculty union has also voted on a resolution of no confidence in Dr. Jennings leadership. According to published reports, 58 of the 64 faculty members who participated in the vote said they had no confidence in the president’s leadership. Among the faculty complaints are declining enrollments, a poor record on fundraising, and negative financial ratings.

From 2005 to 2008, Dr. Jennings was president of Alabama A&M University. He has also held administrative posts at Wake Forest University and North Carolina A&T State University.

Dr. Jennings is a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta. He holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in higher education administration from Atlanta University.
