The New Editor of the Howard Journal of Communications

ChukaOChuka Onwumechili was named editor-in-chief of the Howard Journal of Communications. He is the third person to serve as editor of the peer-reviewed journal since its founding in 1988. Dr. Onwumechili had been serving as the associate editor of the journal.

Dr. Onwumechili joined the Howard University faculty in 2009. Currently, he serves as chair of the department of strategic, legal, and media communications. Previously, he was a faculty member and chair of the communications department at Bowie State University in Maryland.

A native of Nigeria, Dr. Onwumechili is a graduate of the University of Nigeria in Nsukka. He holds a master’s degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and a Ph.D. in communication from Howard University.
