Administrative Appointments in Higher Education for a Trio of African Americans

bboatwrightBetty Boatright was appointed vice president for enrollment management at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg. She has served in the post on an interim basis for the past year. Previously, she was director of institutional research at the university.

Boatright is a graduate of Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina, and holds a master’s degree from South Carolina State University.

nyree-grayNyree Gray was named chief civil rights officer and Title IX coordinator at Claremont McKenna College in California. She was an associate professor of law and dean of students and diversity affairs at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles.

Gray is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and the Southwestern Law School.

hairstonSteven E. Hairston was appointed vice president for institutional advancement and chief operating officer at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was the strategic planning manager for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.

Dr. Hairston is a graduate of Virginia Union University in Richmond. He holds a master of public administration degree from Temple University in Philadelphia and a doctorate in leadership studies from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro.
