Southern University Teams Up With Baton Rouge Community College

SouthernUniversitySouthern University, the historically Black educational institution in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has entered into a partnership with Baton Rouge Community College. The agreement will allow students who have successfully completed associate’s degrees in political science, psychology, history, criminal justice, business, and military science at Baton Rouge Community College to enroll in Southern University bachelor’s degree programs as juniors.

mitchellAndrea Lewis Miller, chancellor of Baton Rouge Community College, stated that “it makes perfect sense for our institutions to come together to make sure our students are furthering their education by receiving their bachelor’s degrees. This is just the beginning, and we intend to expand on what we have started.”

Baton Rouge Community College enrolls about 8,000 students. The most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education, shows that African Americans are 40 percent of the student body.
