Shaw University Extends Contract of Acting President

Gaddis-Faulcon-thumbAt the beginning of 2014, Shaw University, the historically Black educational institution in Raleigh, North Carolina, announced the appointment of Gaddis J. Faulcon as acting president. Dr. Faulcon had been serving as an associate professor of public administration and dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies at the university.

Now the board of trustees has changed Dr. Faulcon’s title from acting president to interim president and extended his contract for one year. Joseph N. Bell, chair of the board of trustees, stated “Dr. Faulcon has continued to lead Shaw in the right direction and we are supportive of his efforts. We look forward to his strong and innovative leadership in the coming year as we continue to forge new business and community partnerships to enhance the Shaw experience for our students.”

Dr. Faulcon has been on the faculty at Shaw University since 1998. He previously served on the faculty at St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh and at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina.

Dr. Faulcon is a graduate of St. Augustine’s University. He earned a master’s degree in recreation resources and public administration and an educational doctorate from North Carolina State University.
