Roscoe Roberts Named General Counsel at the Univerity of Virginia

robertsjpgRoscoe C. Roberts was appointed by the attorney general of the Commonwealth of Virginia as general counsel at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He has been serving as general counsel at historically Black Virginia State University.

Teresa A. Sullivan, president of the University of Virginia, stated that “the legal concerns of operating a research university with a comprehensive medical center are becoming more and more complex. Roscoe Roberts will bring extensive knowledge and experience in higher education and in his work in the Attorney General’s office in Richmond to his work as general counsel for the University of Virginia.”

Roberts is a graduate of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He was named assistant attorney general of Virginia in 1981. In addition to Virginia State, he has served as legal counsel at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, George Mason University in Fairfax, and Christopher Newport University in Newport News.
