Three African Americans Named to Development Posts at North Carolina Central University

nccu_logoNorth Carolina Central University in Durham has announced the hiring of three African American professionals in its Division of Institutional Advancement.

covingtonChatonda Best Covington was appointed interim director of alumni relations. She joins the university’s staff from the Chapman Law Firm where she was responsible for coordinated management of projects and policy analysis.

Covington is a graduate of North Carolina Central University and holds an MBA from Strayer University.

savageCorey Savage is the new director of development for the College of Arts and Sciences at the university. He was the director of foundation relations at Hampton University in Virginia.

Earlier in his career, Savage was a senior communications specialist at St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro.

wilsonKevin M. Wilson was named associate athletics director for development at the university. Since 2012, he has served as assistant athletics director for development and marketing at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina.

Wilson is a graduate of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He earned a master’s degree at North Carolina Central University and is currently studying for an MBA at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.
