Stanford University Making Progress in African American First-Year Enrollments

Stanford-university-logoStanford University, the highly rated research institution in California has announced that 1,691 students have accepted its offer of admission to be members of the Class of 2018. Of the incoming first-year students, 10.5 percent are African Americans.

A year ago, there were 168 Black first-year students at Stanford. They made up 10 percent of the incoming first-year students. In 2013, Stanford ranked seventh among the nation’s 30 leading research universities in the percentage of Black first-year students. Two years ago in 2012, 8 percent of the incoming first-year class was Black.
