Two African American Men Named to Dean of Students Posts

brownSt. Mary’s College of Maryland in St. Mary’s City has named Leonard Brown as dean of students. He has been serving as dean of students and vice president for student development at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Earlier in his career, Brown was associate dean of students at Loyola University in Baltimore.

A graduate of Dickinson College, Brown holds master’s degrees from Western Illinois University in Macomb and the St. Mary’s Seminary and University Ecumenical Institute of Theology in Baltimore.

AlexVasquez_Alex Vasquez was appointed dean of students at Amherst College in Massachusetts. He was dean for advising and academic success at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. Before joining the staff at Wheaton College, Vasquez was a student life official at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York.

Vasquez holds bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University at Albany of the State University of New York system. He is currently a doctoral candidate at Boston College.
