Six African Americans in New University Administrative Posts

riddickRomy Riddick was promoted to executive director for client services in the Office of Human Resources at Princeton University in New Jersey. She has served in the role on an interim basis since February and previously was director of diversity and inclusion in the Office of Human Resources. Earlier, she was a senior vice president at TD Bank.

Riddick is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where she majored in political science.

DrKenReddaK. Ken Redda is the new vice president for research at Florida A&M University. He has served in the post on an interim basis since 2010. Dr. Redda is a professor of medicinal chemistry in the university’s College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Redda has been an employee of Florida A&M for 29 years.

Dr. Redda earned a Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada.

SummersEdward Summers was appointed chief deputy to the president of Stony Brook University, a campus of the State University of New York system. He has been serving as chief of staff at Union College in Schenectady, New York. Dr. Summers also was director of the Kelly Adirondack Research Center at the college.

Dr. Summers earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master of public administration degree from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. He earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in urban and public policy at The New School in New York City.

TrisaLongPaschal2Trisha Long Paschal was named vice president for institutional advancement and university relations at Clark Atlanta University. She has been serving in the post on an interim basis since February. She is the former vice president for institutional advancement at Spelman College in Atlanta.

Paschal holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in education from the University of Akron in Ohio.

mead_shawnbodaShawnboda Mead was appointed director of the Center for Inclusion and Cross-Cultural Engagement at the University of Mississippi. She was the associate director of diversity and multicultural education at the University of Tennessee.

Mead received her undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University and a master’s degree from Western Kentucky University.

lg-barnsEmanuel Barnes Sr. was named vice president for student affairs at Alcorn State University in Lorman, Mississippi. Barnes began his career at Alcorn State in 1975 as a residence hall director. Over the years, he has served as dean of students, director of admissions and recruiting, and most recently deputy provost for student services.

Barnes holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Alcorn State University.
