Two African American Women Are Appointed Provosts

naveFelecia McInnis Nave has been chosen as the next provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Prairie View A&M University in Texas. She is a professor of chemical engineering and has been serving as associate provost and associate vice president for academic affairs.

Dr. Nave is a graduate of Alcorn State University in Mississippi. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Toledo.

weddle-westKaren Weddle-West has been appointed interim provost at the University of Memphis in Tennessee. She has been serving as vice provost for graduate programs and the director of diversity initiatives at the university. Before coming to the University of Memphis, she served on the faculty at Tennessee State University and Ohio State University.

Dr. Weddle-West holds master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She is president-elect of the Graduate Record Examination Board.
