Four African Americans Named to New Administrative Posts in Higher Education

Dedric Carter was appointed the inaugural associate provost and associate vice chancellor for innovation and entrepreneurship at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Carter has been serving as associate dean for international education and research in the university’s School of Engineering and Applied Science. He is the former senior adviser for strategic initiatives at the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Carter holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He earned a Ph.D. in information systems from Nova Southeastern University.

Anthony-FloydAnthony Floyd Jr. is the new director of public safety and chief of police at The Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. He is a retired lieutenant of the Philadelphia Police Department is a former deputy chief of the Millersville University Police Department. Floyd also serves as an adjunct instructor of criminal justice at ITT Technical Institute.

Floyd is a graduate of Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. He holds a master’s degree in the administration of justice from Wilmington University in Delaware.

Nettie DanielsNettie Daniels was named executive director of the office of institutional effectiveness and assessment at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She has been serving as associate vice president in the office of institutional planning, assessment, and effectiveness at Grambling State University in Louisiana.

Daniels is a graduate of Alcorn State University in Mississippi.

sandra-mitchell_insideSandra Mitchell was appointed associate vice president for diversity and inclusion at the University of North Dakota. She will begin her new job on July 14. She has been serving as chief diversity officer at Regis University in Denver, Colorado.

Mitchell holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in higher education from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
