Howard University’s College of Medicine Names New Head of Pediatrics

Wright_JJoseph L. Wright was appointed chair of the department of pediatrics in the College of Medicine at Howard University in Washington, D.C. The appointment is effective in June.

Dr. Wright currently is professor and vice chair of pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He is a graduate of Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, where he majored in biospsychology. Dr. Wright earned his medical degree at Rutgers University and he holds a master of public health degree from George Washington University.

“I am very excited to join the faculty at Howard University,” Dr. Wright said. “The College of Medicine has had a deep and indelible historical impact on health care throughout the region, throughout the country and, indeed, around the world.  It will be a privilege to lead the Department of Pediatrics as chair.”
