Huston-Tillotson President to Step Down in 2015

EarvinLarry L. Earvin, president of Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas, since 2000, has announced that he will step down at the end of the 2014-15 academic years. The historically Black educational institution enrolls about 970 students, including a few dozen graduate students. During Dr. Earvin’s tenure as president, enrollments at the school have nearly doubled and the university’s enrollment has more than doubled.

Before being named president of Huston-Tillotson University, Dr. Earvin was dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at Clark Atlanta University. He also served on the political science faculty at Clark Atlanta.

President Earvin is a graduate of Clark College. He earned a master’s degree at Georgia State University and a Ph.D. at Emory University.

  1. Dr. Earvin is one of this nation’s best higher education leaders. A man of high intellect and unquestionable integrity. I was privileged to have worked with him at CAU and to call him my friend. Others could learn a lot from him.
