Howard Taps the Brakes on the Rollout of Its Online Course Offerings

howardLast summer, Howard University announced a major new online education initiative in cooperation with Pearson Inc., one of the world’s largest educational publishers. The goal was to have 25 online courses available within the next several years.

Now Howard has announced that it is scaling back on its ambitious plans and will roll out its new online course offerings in stages. In a statement the university said that it would “continue to build out its infrastructure for online course offerings” and over the next year to “invest in course development, faculty training, and administrative support capacity for online course offerings on a larger scale.”

At the current time, Howard offers six online certificate and degree courses.

Quenon Endowed Chair, and vice provost for graduate education at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
