Four African Americans Taking on New Admintrative Roles in Higher Education

Davis,HarrietHarriet Frink Davis was named vice chancellor for institutional advancement at North Carolina Central University in Durham. She has been serving as associate vice chancellor for development at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina. Previously, she was assistant vice president for corporate relations at Hampton University in Virginia.

Dr. Davis holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, all from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro.

BluezetteMarshallBleuzette Marshall was named chief diversity officer at the University of Cincinnati. She has served in the position on an interim basis for the past year. Previously, she was the senior director of development for the University of Cincinnati Foundation. Dr. Marshall has been on the staff of the university for 21 years.

Dr. Marshall holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, all from the University of Cincinnati.

anderson_rayRay Anderson was named vice president and director of athletics at Arizona State University. Since 2006 he has been serving as executive vice president for football operations for the National Football League. Previously, he was vice president of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons.

Anderson is a graduate of Stanford University, where he majored in political science, and Harvard Law School.

Chandra AlstonChandra Alston was appointed associate vice president for human resources at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.  She has been serving in the post on an interim basis since July while continuing in her role as assistant dean for finance and administration for the College of Allied Health Sciences.

Alston has been on the staff at the university for 14 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Tennessee at Martin and an MBA from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee.
