Higher Education Grants of Interest to African Americans

money-bag-2Here is this week’s news of grants to historically Black colleges and universities or for programs of particular interest to African Americans in higher education.

Historically Black Virginia State University received a three-year $299,305 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for a program to help limited-resource farmers to raise and sell sheep for meat to wholesale and retail markets.

Southern University, the historically Black educational institution in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, received a $88,000 grant from the National Science Foundation for graduate research assistantships.

Arizona State University and Concordia University in Montreal are collaborating on a two-year National Science Foundation grant to study the development of computer science in Kenya and Uganda. The investigators will study the evolution of the computer science programs at the University of Nairobi in Kenya and Makerere University in Uganda.
