Charles D. Howell to Lead the Department of Internal Medicine at Howard University

CharlesHoweelCharles D. Howell was named chair of the department of internal medicine at the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He will begin his new duties on February 10. Dr. Howell has been serving as a tenured professor of medicine and director of hepatology research at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Dr. Howell is a graduate of Tuskegee University in Alabama. He earned his medical degree from the Howard University College of Medicine. He then completed an internship in family medicine at the University of Alabama Birmingham followed by an internal medicine residency at the Baylor College of Medicine. Howell went on to complete a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
